- How did I get another failing grade? I have been studying frequently. My best is never good enough.
- It's okay. It will all be worth it in the end, you will make lots of money.
- I began working for the NISD afterschool program, Learning Tree, in 2018. It was a great job with going to school full time. The hours were consistent and mid-day. This allowed me to have enough time to go to school in the morning and have time to study at night, especially for all the nursing classes I was taking.
- Falling Action
- Being in nursing classes was extremely unmotivating for me. I would study countless hours every night and still manage to fail or barely pass the weekly assessments. It was absolutely heartbreaking after being an excelling student prior to college.
- Resolution
- The amount of stress and anxiety I was encountering every day made me want to give up. Everyone around me was saying after I finished school it would all be worth it "I would get to pick my own hours, I'll be making more money than them." No matter how much they said it I couldn't imagine getting that far, every day I felt more and more incapable.
- Working for Learning Tree I created enriched lesson plans, managed a class of 20-25 students, and built a positive and safe environment. Although Learning Tree did warrant us youth leaders to portray the responsibilities of actual teachers I did not mind it at all, I actually loved it.
- I started to recognize that going to Learning Tree was something I really enjoyed, it never felt like I was working. I always felt that I was doing a good job and making a difference in my student's education and life. Although I received many negative comments about teachers' pay I started to realize that I rather go to school for something that I know I will enjoy learning about and helps me develop into a better role model for our futue leaders.
