Storyboard Text

  • Skluzavka: 1
  • Stella has a difficult time fully forgetting her life before Blake. When talking to Peg Davis she is asked about who she was, "Maybe they spent their lives together modulating each other, making up for what the other lacked"(Bennett 261). Stella can't forget Desiree, she was another part of her. A part of her life she can never go back to. The only part of her life she can't leave mentally.
  • What does the Character think about
  • Skluzavka: 2
  • What do they talk about.
  • While hanging out with Loretta Stella tends to diminish herself. Always treating herself as an intriguing person. This is prevalent when Stella states, "I'm as plain as they come"(Bennett 195). Stella can't see herself as someone interesting. She can't tell her story so she just pushes herself down. Demeaning herself in the process. This holds up even later in the story when she meets Peg Davis. Stella can't view herself positively.
  • Skluzavka: 3
  • What do they do poorly.
  • Stella meets with Kennedy at a Restaurant to try and get her enrolled back into school. Stella holds Kennedy up to these very high expectations. This is apparent when Stella says, "Wanting what's best for you is blackmail? Wanting you to get an education, to better yourself---"(Bennett 254). Stella pushes for Kennedy to go back into school although Kennedy refuses. Stella has a problem connecting with Kennedy as they don't truly know each other. It's difficult to portray how much she cares for her daughter as she doesn't have any real connections or deep ties with her as she hides her past. Whether it's actively hiding her past or STella refusing to teach and spend quality time with a young Kennedy. It's just extremely difficult to connect.
