Echo distracts hera and hera takes away the ability to speak freely
Eco saw Narcissus, a beautiful youth, as he hunted in the mountains. She loved him a followed his footsteps. "Let us join one another."
"Hands off! I would rather die than you should have me!"
Echo falls in love with Narcissus but he rejects her
He refused and left her, so she ran off to live in caves hidden in mountain cliffs.
Echo goes into a cave where she stays forever.
Narcissus had no interest in any of the other nymphs either.
She wasrejectedand sadly prayed that he should fall in love and not have the love returned.
Narcissus rejected another nymph but she was the wrong one.
Narcissus fell in love with himself
His tears fell into the water and he saw the image leave, and exclaimed, "Stay, I beg you! Let me at least see you, if I may not touch you."
He fell in love with himself and brought his lips near to take a kiss; he plunged his arms in to hug himself.
In its place at the side of the water stood a flower named for him.
Narcissus dies and turns into a flower
