What if we levy the new taxes?
The Estates General was called by the French government because the economy was drastically failing. The goal was to find solutions and to figure out what to do next. This event occurred on May 4-5, 1789.

Out of fear of King Louis XVI arrested members of the National Assembly, so the French citizens stormed the Bastille, a French fortress. There was also a food shortage and the middle class was not happy with how the government was running the nation.

King Louis you are guilty of treason and will be executed.
King Louis XVI didn't want to restore the monarchy, declared the National Assembly unconstitutional, and fled from France. He was convicted of treason and executed on January 21, 1793.
