this shows when Pony and darry are yelling at eachother and Darry hits pony. this conflict developes the story because after they argue Pony runs away with Johnny and much worse things happen.
When Johnny Dallas and Ponyboy are returning from dairy queen, they find the church on fire. This shows person vs Nature because Johnny and Pony are going against the fire to save the kids. this progresses the story because Johnny Pony and Dallas face much more consequences from the fire, it impacts the way the characters feel and what they do after.
After seeing Johhny die pony was really worked up emotionally. He began to go into denial about what happened, pretending johnny was dead, that Dallas wasnt dead, And that he had been the one that killed bob. This shows how he was arguing with himself internally, not wanting to face the truth. this impacts what happens to Dally, and how the entire gang feels.
