- Witchy needs a friend.By Katrina Krogh
- Opening her cupboard, Witchy found her mixture supplies. Now, all these different things were going to combine together in different sorts of ways. What would happen if she took the the golden syrup and oil and put them in the coloured water? Was that they key? Could it be the corn flour? Or should she try the vinegar and then the bi-carb soda? Which of these concoctions would prove to be the magic mix of materials to make a friend?
- Hidden away in her underground house, Witchy was lonely and down in the dumps. She was trying to remember the spell that would help her make a gooey, blobby friend. She knew it had something to do with coloured water, but what were the other ingredients?
- While she wished she could remember, Witchy realised the only thing to do was try, so she grabbed the first of her ingredients and mixed them with the coloured water, but all that she got was a bubbling, frothy mess because of all the tiny bubbles of gas that were created.

- Not ready to give up just yet, Witchy went again with more supplies. Aaargh! This concoction didn't even mix, it just floated in layers because all of the ingredients had different densities.
- With only one attempt left, Witchy mixed her last potion, squeezed and squashed it together, wished and then slowly opened one eye...
- Hooray! It worked! This was the magic mix of materials to make a gooey, blobby friend because all the particles squashed together perfectly, but they could also separate again as if her friend was alive and moving. Witchy danced with joy, knowing she would never feel lonely again.
