In 1862, Mono was an 11 year old boy with his parents heading to the Great plains for the Homestead Act. Mono was excited because he wanted to learn how to farm.

Three month into the journey west, it started to snow and both Mono and his parents thought they can die from the coldness.

Mono parent's sickness was getting worse. Mono decided to ride the wagon and look for a cover for shelter.
A couple hours later, he found a cave and leave his parents in the cave. He went to gather some sticks to make fire and food from the basket.
After a month of Mono taking care of his parents they felt better, so they were able to go to the Great Plains
