  • Meanwhile, Bella's instructor ask for one advantage and disadvantage for each type of sterilization methods.
  • For steam sterilization, an autoclave, a vessel that can endure highpressure and temperature, is used to perform steam sterilization, also known asautoclaving. Items and equipment that require sterilization are placed insidethe autoclave. For a certain amount of time, the product or apparatus isbrought into close proximity to steam that is both hot and pressurized. Thehigh temperatures required to swiftly destroy microorganisms are attained bythe use of pressure. The advantage of steam sterilization includes steam underpressure, a fast-drying time, no corrosion, and quick heating. While, disadvantagesinclude moisture retention, carbon steel can corrode from moisture exposure, and only stainless-steel tools and heat-resistant plastics can be sterilized.
  • Incomparison to wet heat (steam) sterilization, dry heat sterilization is lesseffective and efficient. Only items that are impermeable to wet heat or thatmay be harmed by moist heat should be sterilized using dry heat. The benefitsof dry heat sterilization include its nontoxicity, environmental friendliness, ability to permeate materials, and non-corrosive to metals and sharp objects. The sluggish rate of heat penetration and time-consuming nature of dry heatmake it unsuitable for several applications. The majority of polymers alsowon't be able to resist the needed high temperatures. In general, steamsterilization requires higher temperatures and longer periods.
