The basic situation is that Lizabeth and her family are living in poverty. Lizabeth doesn't know about what is going on in the world and wants to find out who she is. The main characters are Lizabeth, Joey, her mother, her father, and Miss Lottie. The conflict in the story is that everyone is going through a hard time as this was during the Great Depression.
Exposition
Rising Action
The first rising action consists of Lizabeth and Joey, they were throwing rocks and Miss Lottie's marigolds and destroyed most of them. They were both making fun of Miss Lottie and how old she was..
In the second falling action Lizabeth can't sleep so she wakes up Joey and runs out the house. She had not told Joey where they were going and ran off. Lizabeth finally realized where she was headed, Miss Lottie's house.
Rising Action 2
Climax
In the climax Lizabeth reaches Miss Lottie's house. Once she does she rips out Miss Lottie's flowers out of anger of realizing there life situation in the Great Depression. She runs through the field and rips out all of Miss Lottie's flowers.
Falling Action
In the falling action Joey finally catches up to Lizabeth. Standing in the field of uprooted marigolds Lizabeth realized what she has done. She sees Miss Lottie in front of her. She stood there in shock. She regretted what she did
Resolution
In the resolution Lizabeth feels compassion towards Miss Lottie.She has never felt this way until she looked upon what she has done to another person until now when she ripped out Miss Lottie's marigolds
