- We're working on a project and Morah let Rivka do the coloring and not me! She told me it's because I write better, but I want to color!

- That does sound frustrating. But I have a story for you that I think will help you feel better about it.
- Skluzavka: 5
- Once upon a time, there was a great Gadol Hador and Torah leader: Rabbi Yochanan ben Zachai. One day, Rabbi Yochanan's son beomes sick. Rabbi Yochanan davens all day, but his son remains sick.
- Rabbi Yochanan has a student that davens very powerful tefillot. He quickly finds his student, Rabbi Chanina ben Dosa, and asks him to daven for his son.

- Rabbi Chanina davens and davens and finally, the son is cured!
- Everyone knows that Rabbi Chanina was the best at davening.

- Rabbi Yochanan's wife doesn't understand why her husband's tefillot are not as good as Rabbi Chanina's. "How is Rabbi Chanina greater than you," she asks, "when you're the Gadol Hador?"
- Rabbi Yochanan responds, "Well, Rabbi Chanina is like a servant before Hashem the King, and I am like a minister before the King." (1)What did Rabbi Chanina mean?

- "A servant is able to come and go in the king's room, so the servant is constantly around the king.
- That is what Rabbi Chanina is like to Hashem," says Rabbi Yochanan. "He comes and davens constantly to Hashem, much more than I do." (2)

- "I don't understand how that makes Rabbi Chanina's tefillot so special," says Rabbi Yochanan's wife.
- "Well, let me tell you how," says Rabbi Yochanan.

- "As you know," says Rabbi Yochanan to his wife, "I am very busy with my kehilah. I have to keep up with my chavrusahs'.

- I have to teach my talmidim.
- Of course I daven, but I don't have lots of time to daven, like Rabbi Chanina does. I have a lot of responsibilities." (3)

- "What also makes us different," continues Rabbi Yochanan, "is that,because I know lots of Torah, I understand that everything that happens in this world, even our little boy getting sick, is for the good."
- Rabbi Chanina doesn't know as much Torah as I do, so he davens for things as if they are not for the good and should be changed, and that makes his words stronger (4).I am greater than him in Torah and he is greater than me in tefillah!"

- Rabbi Yochanan finishes answering, but he still wonders why he and Rabbi Chanina are so different. After all, they are both great Rabbis!
- So Rabbi Yochanan and his son walk over to Rabbi Chanina's house to learn more about what makes Rabbi Chanina's tefillot so special.

- They knock on the door and Rabbi Chanina welcomes them inside with a smile. "What brings the Rav and his son to my little home?" says Rabbi Chanina.
- "My son wanted to thank you for saving his life," says Rabbi Yochanan, "and then we would like to ask you a question." "Go ahead," says Rabbi Chanina.

- "Everyone knows that you are the best at davening because you spent a lot of time doing it. You are always speaking with Hashem.But what's your secret for such great tefillot, that no one knows about?"
- "Well," says Rabbi Chanina in response, "I do think about Hashem's mystical Names when I daven (5), but here's what the real secret is.."

- "Every single person in this world has a job to do to serve Hashem. Some people are better at using their mind, so they learn Torah. Some people are better at using their emotions, so they serve Hashem with heartfelt tefillos. We each have a unique path and Hashem wants everyone to succeed in what they do best.That is why Hashem answered my tefillah for your son instead of yours (6)."

- Wow, now I understand why Morah did that! She knew that I was better at writing so she made that my job, and she knew Rivka was better at drawing than writing, so that was her job.
- Yes, exactly! Morah wanted each of you to do what you did best, just like Hashem wants for each of us.
