Event 3-Douglass Hides
COME OUT FROM HIDING AND FACE YOUR PUNISHMENT!
In this scene, we meet two main characters and set up the conflict between Frederick Douglass and the cruel slave breaker, Mr.Covey.
Climax-Douglass vs. Covey
Take hold of him, take hold of him!
I will resist every second!
When Douglass is working, he collapsed from being too exhausted and stops working. Covey gets angry and beats Douglass for not doing his work.
Resolution-Victory
After all, maybe I will be free one day...
In this scene, Douglass gets scared of Covey and runs away and hides where Covey can't find him.
When Douglass is working in the stables Covey tries to hurt him. Douglass responds quickly and fights back.
Douglass wins the fight and gets a moral victory. He gains his confidence back, along with his determination to be free.
