- May 8th, Ellie and her mom got into a heated argument. It was the day Ellie was suppose to sign up for tesserae so they could have a supply of grain and oil, but Ellie refused to put her name in the reaping anymore than she had too.
- How dare you speak like that Eliana! Where do you think you're going!?
- I'm so sick of providing all the food to feed us!
- Ellie stormed off deep into the woods of district 12 to calm down, but she couldn't help but get aggravated at the fact her mom wanted her to risk her life for the sake of food once again. Ellie already had 24 entries at the age of 17, she would put her name in every few months on the 8th when her and her mom needed it. She never wanted to, but she felt like she had to, mostly for her mom but herself as well.
- This is so unfair! Why do I always have to put my life on the line, why do I have to be the provider when it should be her! She's my mother, not the other way around! I feel like...like every year... I'm another paper slip away from a bloody death.
- Ellie ends up discovering an abandoned tree house along the way. She decides this is where she'll stay just for a few days, to get away from her mom. She needed a break from her and the district all together, she thinks, maybe the woods could be her new environment.
- Could use a bit of dusting but this will do for now.
- It's sundown, Ellie's mom is beginning to get worried, she hasn't heard from her daughter in 6 hours. She decided to go looking for her in the usual places she would be.
- I shouldn't have yelled at her like that... I should go look for her, she can't be to far from home.
- She heads down to the Hob were she runs into Gale, she knows they go to school together and Ellie always mentions him at home. Desperate to know where her daughter is, she asks Gale if he's seen her around. She tells him all about their argument and how regretful she is for the way she treated Ellie, she just wants to find her and fix things.
- Thank you, I'm just worried for her safety, I don't know how long she can last on her own in this district.
- Mmm.. No I haven't seen her, but I'll make sure to tell you if I do.
- It's now night time and with Ellie no where to be found, her mom's last resort was to check the woods of district 12, she knows it's forbidden but it was her last option. What she didn't know is the bears of the woods are most active at night and unfortunately...
- AHHHHHHHHH!!!
