- 2: Genetic Variation
- 2: Overproduction of Offspring
- Deer are very populated in woods land. Their different color furs show natural variation in the population. Their home also features predators such as dinosaurs. The can get extremely snowy in the winter and rainy in the spring season
- 5: Adaptation
- Genetic variation gives all the deer notably different characteristics. The main one is their fur color, some are green others are snowy white. Genetic variation is the genes creating different individuals in the same population.
- 4: Competition & Natural Selection
- Kicking off the summer season, many new deer are born in two different colors. However it's alarming how many new deer are born aka, overpopulation. Shelter, safety and especially food will become scarce.
- Evolution Has Occured
- Green deer were more likely to survive and create more offspring than any other. After various years of natural selection, this left most of the population of the new generation to be green deer. The offspring now carry the heritable trait of green fur ,making it easier to adapt and survive in their environment.
- The white fur deer are easier for its predator, the dinosaurs, to hunt. The deer with the green fur can hide easier and the green deer can almost camouflage in the bushes and grass. It's natural selection where the best suited for the woods environment will survive and reproduce comfortably.
- Evolution can happen quickly or slowly in an environment depending on the size of change and genetics in population. The genetic differences can include a short/long tail, green/white fur, short/long back legs, big/small etc. In this environment specifically, the dominant genetic trait is green fur. The environment of the woods gives a sort of layout to whom can adapt , survive and create offspring.
