I have this friend named Jenna and she has always been a kind and trusting friend. However she has always had a problem where she can't open up to her parents because they are strict and she is scared of getting scolded. It wasn't much of a problem until.....
1)One day after when we went shopping together, Jenna pulled out and expensive jewelry that she didn't buy. She then wanted aconversation' with me and said
2)I want to stop shoplifting but I can't ! I almost got caught today and I feel like I will one day if I keep doing this
I started to do this because I was stressed under all of the pressure I had from my parents about exceling. Shoplifting was a way for me to compensate these feelings. I want to seek help but I will get killed if I tell my parents and if I tell a therapist, they might report me for crime! I don't want to get accused!
She later then explained how this all started and how she feels about it.
Which action should I take that would be the most moral for my friend?1) Tell her parents2) to not tell anyone (so that she doesn't get in trouble)3) to tell a councillor and let them handle it4) Ask other friends for their opinions
I ended up choosing #3 because I knew telling her parents would cause a scene but I couldn't just let her suffer and let this continue to harm her. It it probably the best to let an adult handle these situations.
