- Hello my name is Melissa and today we will tell you what was the role of women in the Mexican Revolution.LET'S GET STARTED!
- First of all woman played a prominent role in the Mexican Revolution. Back then it was common for women to serve as “soldaderas”, cooking, washing and marching alongside the men, often taking their children with them. Just like fighting on the battlefields.

- During the Mexican Revolution there were women who fought on the battlefields. Soldaderas -- or female soldiers -- these women fought on both sides, either by choice or by force. The men gave their wages to the women for the purchase of food, preparation of meals, laundry, and other services. Often the women soldiers did many other things besides housework.
- Some followed the soldiers, believing they would be safer than staying where they were. Many were single and childless, so they could move from place to place with ease. When the soldiers took over a place, they not only commandeered weapons and horses, but also captured the women, some of whom became soldiers.
- Many of the women also took full advantage of their participation to gain more respect and rights in some states, especially in Yucatan, where the First Feminist Congress is organized.
- In addition, female soldiers were so important during the Revolution that Zapatista leaders included coronelas (female colonels) in their troop rosters along with male colonels.
