- The Articles of Confederation are created and it becomes our first form of government. This government was extremely weak centrally and gave lots of power to the states, which ended up being its downfall.
- Farmers who were former soldiers in the Revolutionary War are unhappy with Massachusetts's high taxes. They try and revolt against the state government, but the uprising gets put down.
- Daniel Shays, an unknown farmer, leads the revolt against the Massachusetts's state government and their high taxes. This time, the revolt is successful, and the representatives of each state recognize how horrible the Articles of Confederation are.
- The Constitutional Convention is the meeting where the Constitution would be thought up and drafted. There were two plans, the New Jersey Plan and the Virginia Plan, which would be combined in the Great Compromise.
- The Constitution is ratified and the central government comes what we know it as today. This government is still fully functional today and although the times have changed, the government really has not.
- The Constitution still left a group of people unhappy and everybody agreed that there would be a list of laws so that the constitution could change. This is the Bill of RIghts and the first ten amendments to the constitution.
