Rikki got washed away in a flood from his home and is rescued by Teddy’s family.

Rikki-Tikki learns that Nag and Nagana are dangerous to teddy and his family. Cobras try to attack Rikki-Tikki but fail.
“I will kill the big man and his wife, and the child if I can, and come away quietly.”
Nag comes into the bathroom trying to kill Teddy’s father and is killed by Rikki-Tikki
Rikki destroys Nagana’s cobra eggs.
“He bit off the tops of the eggs as fast as he could, taking care to crush the young cobras, and turned over the litter from time to time to see whether he had missed any.”
Nagana tries to kill Teddy and his family. This leads to an epic battle where Rikki follows Nagana into a hole in the ground.
“...he went down with her—and very few mongooses, however wise and old they may be, care to follow a cobra into its hole.”
‘“He saved our lives and Teddy’s life,” she said to her husband. “Just think, he saved all our lives.”’
Teddy and his mother and father thank Rikki-Tikki-Tavi for saving their family. That small little mongoose saved their lives forever. The family gets to live in safety.
