- Greenbelt is a ring of land maintained as parks, agriculture, or other types of open area space to limit the sprawl of an urban area. In this case, the greenbelt clearly borders the urban city and includes an open space of recreation. It also includes playgrounds and benches and an expansive field of play dedicated to recreation. In this way is the greenbelt so advantagous to a city as development soars.
- CBD
- New Urbanism is a movement that seeks to encourage local community development and sustainable growth in an urban area. This picture demonstrates a few aspects of the movement as it shows an urban garden that can support many residents of the building as well as decrease the carbon footprint of the building. It also encourages local produce which is healthier than commercial meat and produce.
- Rural
- Suburbs are residential communities that are homogeneous in population and include several single family homes. This case clearly portrays this as a row of homogeneous houses and lawns and avenues are apparent here. In addition, a family is present which is indicative of a suburban area and a suburban home. Finally, the family homes are not connected nor are they apartments.
- Tenement
- The CBD is the central business district of a city where the number of businesses, transportation services, and land value is high. In this case, the CBD of San Francisco and it’s skyline is apparent where the tallest buildings and most services are located. The most obvious hint is the number of cars and buses which are apparent as the CBD includes most of the activity and transportation needs of a population.
- Rural areas are those sparsely settled places away from the influence of large cities. In this case, this farm clearly shows that the land is sparsely inhabited as there is not an abundance of residences so this place is rural. In addition, the number of people which is two is a small number. Populations in towns or cities have much greater populations and more services for the population.
- Tenements are residences for many families with little sanitation. This case demonstrates the concept of tenements because of the extremely low level of sanitation involved. It does not have adequate facilities to support healthy living. In addition, there is more than one family present which shows how limited the building is. On the fridge, an eviction notice is symbolic of the poor financial situation of the people.
