- The witches plan to meet Macbeth and Banquo after the battle.
- The battle against the Norwegians.
- After the battle, Macbeth and his friend come across the witches who prophesize that Macbeth will become King of Scotland and Banquo's bloodline will rule Scotland for generations.
- The witches disappear. Then Ross arrives to tell Macbeth and Banquo that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor.
- King Duncan applauds Macbeth's efforts and bravery in the battle against the Norwegians.
- After learning of the prophecy of the witches, Macbeth's wife, Lady Macbeth tries to convince Macbeth into murdering Duncan and become King. The thought of killing Duncan frightens Macbeth.
