Enkidu gets a dream about how the Gods blame him for the death of the Bull of Heaven. He then begins to waste away because of what he did to Ishtar and the Bull of Heaven. He than dies after the 12th day.
Tablet 10
Gilgamesh now laments for Enkidu and gathers various valuables for Enkidu's tribute. Gilgamesh also tore his hair and clothing.
Tablet 11
Gilgamesh continues his travels across the mountains to find Uta-Napishti. He encounters 2 scorpions who are the guardians of the mountains. Gilgamesh is granted passage, and enters the mountain pass.
Tablet 12- Epilougue
Gilgamesh encounters Siduri, a Tavern-keeping Goddess who advises Gilgamesh to cherish the life he has. Gilgamesh says he has to find Uta-Napishti. Siduri tells him about Urshanabi, the boatman for Uta-Napishti. Gilgamesh then goes to find him. He then finds Urshanabi and takes his oat to Uta-Napishti. When Gilgamesh finds Uta-Napishti, Gilgamesh tells him his story.
Gilgamesh listens to Uta-Napishti's story. Uta-Napishti, after he is done, challenges Gilgamesh with the reward being immortality. The challenge was not sleeping for 1 week. Gilgamesh accepted the challenge but failed instantly. Uta-Napishti took pity on Gilgamesh, so he told Gilgamesh about a plant that would restore his youth. Gilgamesh obtains the plant, but it is stolen by a snake when he takes a bath. He than travels back to Uruk unsuccessful.
Gilgamesh speaks to the Shade of Enkidu. Enkidu tells Gilgamesh that the underworld is so horrifying, that if Gilgamesh knew, he would weep. Gilgamesh then is told about the unmourned man, and how not even dogs would eat the scraps he must eat.
