  • This occurred after the witches delivered the prophecy to Macbeth. They discuss their next meeting location, which is dark and spooky, causing the readers to sense something evil coming from them.  The stormy weather associated with the witches symbolizes how their powers stir up trouble, incite chaos, and go against the natural order.
  • Act I finishes with a battle, a storm. Macbeth observes the irony of the situation, remarking on how strange it is to have such bad weather on such a beautiful and wonderful day. Despite the fact that Macbeth and his soldiers had won the battle, the weather turns intense, indicating that there will be more danger and warfare in the future.
  • As he approaches Macbeth's castle to celebrate their victory, King Duncan remarks on how pleasant the weather is. The nice weather in this image represents Duncan's goodness and calm, as well as the natural order he represents. When the witches appear, though, the weather becomes chaotic and violent.
