- Suburbs are housing areas surrounding an urban center. Major urban centers including New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco all have suburbs surrounding the city. Although, even minor cities such as Modesto also have suburbs. In fact, Enochs#160; High School is located in a suburb that surrounds the Modesto downtown, which is the urban center of the City of Modesto.#160;
- Gated Communities
- A Greenbelt is an area in a urban landscape where nature and greenery has been preserved. For example, San Francisco has a greenbelt in which there are parks, beautiful trails, etc. New York City is home to Central Park, which is another famous greenbelt.
- Rural
- I am a farmer, who lives in the countryside; away from metropolitan areas.
- A central business district (CBD) of a city is the main commercial area of the urban landscape. This is where you'll find the biggest corporations operating in the city such as banks, real estate agencies, headquarters of food corporations, etc. This is where you'll find the skyscrapers towering the city landscape and housing many of these corporations. For example, New York City's Times Square is probably the most famous central business district in the world as it is home to some of the largest companies.
- Zoning
- It sure feels great to live in a urban area that is beautifully zoned for different industries and purposes. It gives me all the services I would ever need.
- A gated community is one that is enclosed from all sides, and only homeowners can enter it or allow other family and friends to enter the community. Gated communities are mostly housing areas that are usually more expensive and are considered to be owned by the upper middle-class. They usually have extra conveniences such as parks and clubs inside the community for the homeowners. An example of a gated community in Modesto is Sundance Lake near Sanders Elementary School. This gated community has a huge lake in the middle of it as the name refers.
- A rural area is one that is far from urban landscapes, and it usually favors agricultural practices. An example of rural area near us is the town of Chowchilla, which is a small town away from most urban landscapes, and it predominantly favours agriculture.
- Zoning is the practice of laying out a city by dividing it out into different sectors. For example, these sectors might include the central business district, transportation, retail, etc. An example of a city that is zoned for many of these sectors is San Francisco, which has many sectors such as the central business district, a harbour, a greenbelt, transportation such as the many bridqes including the Golden Gate Bridge, and housing areas.
