  • Skluzavka: 1
  • Hey Anaya! What's up?
  • Skluzavka: 2
  • You work at the red ribbon right?
  • Yes I do, why?
  • Skluzavka: 3
  • Yeah I was hoping you could tell me more about it?
  • Absolutely! Why don't we get on the bus and I'll tell you everything you need to know.
  • Skluzavka: 4
  • I'm actually headed to work right now!
  • For testing, they offer HIV/AIDS, STBBI, have safe sex and harm reduction supplies and education with an Indigenous culture background that has support groups for the community.
  • So the red ribbon building is actually the HIV Edmonton building; the name is used to keep it confidential so people don't feel judged or embarrassed going in, and testing remains anonymous as well.
  • Skluzavka: 5
  • Why do you ask? Is something going on?
  • Skluzavka: 6
  • I understand, it can be difficult to reach out to services like this when a family member is involved
  • Skluzavka: 7
  • I can tell you about some other resources regarding Indigenous sexual and reproductive health.Your feelings are absolutely valid. If you're having doubts about the Red Ribbon,
  • Okay, well there is the Alberta Indigenous Virtual Care Clinic (AIVCC), which provides culturally safe virtual healthcare for Indigenous peoples across Alberta.
  • With the AIVCC, you can arrange for virtual visits related to contraception and sexual health and not have to worry about anyone else finding out about your concerns. Here is the link to the AIVCC website: https://aivcc.ca/
  • Absolutely, I would love that!
  • Skluzavka: 8
  • Yeah actually, I need help but my aunt works there as well and I don't want her to find out.
  • Yes I agree! There’s also a youth-friendly site I came across the other day. It was the Indigenous Sexual and Reproductive Health hub of the Native Women’s Association of Canada
  • I read through it a little bit and it seemed like a culturally safe and trauma-informed hub that provides access to a wealth of information such as knowing your rights and making informed decisions when accessing confidential services related to sexual and reproductive health as an Indigenous person.
  • Skluzavka: 9
  • Yeah exactly, and it doesn't help that there's a lack of youth-friendly trauma-informed services, especially in the rural place that I come from, also people's experiences of racism and cultural insensitivity within healthcare systems adds to the fear of seeking appropriate help!
  • And again, I really don't want friends and family finding out
  • Of course! Here it is: https://nwac.ca/wg2stgd/sexual-reproductive-health/There’s one more resource I can recommend for you actually. It’s the CBRC medicine bundle (https://www.cbrc.net/medicinebundle)
  • Can you send me the link please?
  • Skluzavka: 10
  • Yeah! Here's a pamphlet about it.
  • A medicine bundle?
  • The medicine bundle is free as long as you’re indigenous and from Canada! The bundle itself contains a self testing HIV kit and other indigenous medicines such as sage, sweetgrass, tobacco, devil’s club salve and many more! The main goal of this bundle is to bring back sacredness in sex while also allowing a holistic approach to address sexual health in indigenous people. Not to mention the kit also includes a variety of sexual health resources you could contact if you ever need additional help. This option is great if you want to try something alone before contacting someone. You can explore and learn on your own terms!
  • Skluzavka: 11
  • No problem, thank you for having the courage to come to me as well! I hope you're able to get the help you need.
  • Thank you so much Chloe!
  • Skluzavka: 12

  • Really? That makes it so accessible!
  • Hey Chloe! I'm so glad I ran into you, I've been meaning to ask you something.
