- Hi, Mrs. Wenson! I'm Wendy! From down the street? I'm part of this really nice club, I'm sure you've heard of it, an-BRR!! It's awfully cold out here. May I come in?

- NO. DO NOT COME HERE EVER AGAIN. YOU'RE NOT WELCOME!! (After she speaks)DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?? YOUR STUPID FAMILY IS POOR, AND I DON'T ASSOCIATE WITH POOR IDIOTS LIKE YOU!!

- Mrs. Wenson HATES US, Annie! She hates Papa, Momma, you, Molly, Jacob, and me! Because we're poor! She told me so herself! It's not fair that we have to live down here in the scrappy, rundown, ramshackle house while they get to live in beautiful mansions and penthouses and buy expensive things even when they don't deserve it!!

- Oh, Wendy...I used to think the same thing when I was your age. Of course, deep down, I still believe it, but who's it gonna help by thinkin' that way? The rich brats want us to think that way! We can't give them satisfaction! Remember, treat good with good, treat bad with good.
- Yeah, Annie. I remember. But it hurts the most because...the leader of our club, Bella, is her daughter! And now I can't help thinking that because she's spoiled and wears expensive new clothes to school each day and comes everywhere in a shinin' white limo, she's gon' be just like her momma! But she can't be like that...after all, she's my best friend!

- "I never imagined that my best friend would suddenly turn on me. Bella spread vile rumours about me and just...betrayed me. One time, she told everyone about the incident between me and her horrible mother and twisted it completely! How does she even know about that? I thought to myself then. Mrs. Wenson obviously told her! I remember when my momma told me stories about her childhood about how she and Mrs. Wenson used to be absolute best friends. 'Alice and I did everything together,' she'd say. But then she turned on my momma after her momma told her that poor people were trash. She believed it and this happened. I think that happened to Bella too, and she believed it. I cannot and will not forgive Bella, no matter how many times she may ask for forgiveness."
