- Sally is anxious about choosing a college. She doesn’t want to make the “wrong” choice. To help her define her goals and lifestyle ambitions Sally’s mom took her out for coffee.
- 1. I’m not worried about others’ opinions. I just don’t know what choice to make. I have some ideas but I’m having trouble solidifying them. Could you help me?
- 2. Of course! Do you have any specific goals for your future career? If you do we can look at colleges with programs for that career.
- 3. I want to be a nurse. Some colleges that I found with good nursing programs are St. Scholastica and John Hopkins University.

- 1. Great start Sally! Now, do you want to live close to home or far away? This would narrow your two options to your final choice.
- 2. I don’t want to move away. I want to stay close to my family. I’m choosing to go to St. Scholastica to peruse a degree in nursing. Thanks mom!

- Sally’s mom thinks Sally might be struggling with her inferiority complex. She doesn’t feel good about herself and cares a lot about other’s opinions of her.
- 1. Sally, do you have any goals for your future or any insight as to what kind of lifestyle you want to live?
- Sally was able to choose a college after much confusion and debate. With the help of her mom she looked within herself and defined her clear goals and how she wanted to live.

- 2. I’m not sure. I don’t want to make a choice that isn’t successful for me. I also don’t want to let anyone down with my choice.
- 1. You shouldn’t base your decisions on how others might feel. I want you to clearly define your goals and what you want before making a decision. Don’t worry about what others might think of your decision. Do what makes you happy.
