Frankie is going off to fight in the Vietnam war and his sister, Frankie, is scared for him to go. After his going away party she goes to the beach to get away and he finds her there. He tires to comfort her by telling her that he won't be gone long and the war isn't even that dangerous.

While Frankie is working as a nurse, a man who fought in the Vietnam war asks her to stay until he falls asleep. He talks about how a nurse that worked overseas saved his life which gets her to consider enlisting. Soon after she enlists in the Army as a nurse.

After finding out about her brothers death, Frankie once again heads to the beach to think. Her mother meets here there and begs her not to go to war. Frankie responds just like her brother did saying she will be fine and asks her mother to be proud of her. Her mother just walks away, not being able to handle losing another child. Frankie whispers after her, knowing she can't hear her.
