- Dear Diary,Hi! My name is Melody Brooks and I am in 5th grade. I have cerebral palsy. I can also remember every memory I have ever had. I am making a diary but I can't print books so I can have Catherine, my special aide, put the pages in a folder or something. Catherine is super nice and stands up for me when Claire and Molly are being mean and mocking me. I'm so glad I got a Medi-Talker! Now I can talk to other people and participate in class. I named my Medi-Talker Elvira but I am not going to tell anyone. Rose is my best friend because she is super nice and hangs out with me sometimes. She even talks to me often! Claire and Molly don't like me though. One time when I was in the classroom I made a noise on accident and kicked a little and they started mocking me. Everyone laughed. I even saw Rose use her hand to stifle a laugh. Claire and Molly are best friends and are always making fun of the H-5 room kids.

- Dear diary,We just got home from the Whiz Kid championship round. We won! There were so many interviewers who wanted to talk to us! Many people were surprised to see me on the winning team! We went to dinner afterward and I was starving. Mom had to feed me and everyone looked down at their plates and it got really quiet. I think that everyone was embarrassed and no one had seen me eat before. Even Connor got quiet. Even though I was starving I felt embarrassed so I didn't eat much and we brought most of my food home. At the competition, Claire had said we were best friends and she talked to me all the time! When someone said that I helped a lot Molly said to Claire,"I wouldn't say that," and nudged her. Everyone on our team was surprised. At dinner, she didn't say anything and threw up towards the end.

- Dear Diary,I went back to school today. I saw everybody and I asked them why they didn't call me or ask me to breakfast. They said they thought that I would slow them down and decided to go to the airport early. When they were going to call me everyone shook their heads so they didn't. They tried to give me the trophy but I just burst into a fit of laughter and told them they deserved it. After all, we became friends again. Even Claire and I! Penny is going to be fine and now we are starting our biographies.
