Prologue
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
A bright red bird with a huge wingspan hovers it his cavern. Ember? He turns his head to another creature trying to escape. The fire is burning away the cavern. We have to save Sulfur and her eggs. Ember's head droops. No he says, we must leave.
Chapter 3
Torrent has realized that Smolder, her best friend, is about to tumble off of the Great Cliff and fall to her death. Hold on! yells Torrent. It is too late now to save her friend and she knows it. But she tries anyway only to grab a pawful of fur.
Chapter 4
She is greatly unhappy that she couldn't save her friend like she couldn't help Sulfur in the burning cavern. Soot, a grey-black tom, walked up to the very sad Torrent to try and comfort her
Chapter 5
Soot and Torrent had walked down what felt like miles of stairs and Soot had said, It is a whole lot harder going up then it is going down. Farther up the tunnel, they saw the body of Smolder lying on the ground.
They walked down one of the larger holes that led away from the main cave. Torrent felt haunted by the tunnel because it looked like the one where she had failed to rescue Sulfur and her brood.
After they had left the tunnels behind, along with Torrent's fears, they were both laughing and smiling at each other. Torrent no longer had to fear and Soot had a new friend. Both of them had promised to see each other again in the future.
