Total Wellness
There are many aspects to one's total wellness. Your total well-being is very important for the mind and body. The 3 main parts we're going to disuse are social wellness, mental/emotional wellness, and physical Wellness. These 3 parts all work together to create your relationships, health, and behaviors. Social wellness is your ability to both meet and understand people and their needs along with how you interact and listen to them. Good social wellness is very important for good healthy relationships. It will help you maintain stable and healthy relationships throughout your life. This doesn't mean you won't argue or disagree with others it means you deal with the situation in a good and effective way. Good social wellness has many benefits such as more open opportunities and balance. Mental/emotional wellness is the ability to not only accept but also be comfortable with yourself, others in your life, and your environment along with how you deal with certain events. Your mental and emotional state and all aspects of it can cause people stress. There are many stages of stress but also many defense mechanisms to help deal with it in a positive or not positive way. The 3 stages of stress consist of the alarm stage where your body will release adrenaline and your fight or flight response will kick in , the resistance stage where your body will feel less energetic or week and later you won't feel the stress that's there, lastly the exhaustion stage where your body won't be able to deal with that stress anymore. The defense mechanisms consist of denial, escape/fantasy, rationalization, projection, repression, identification, displacement, regression, compensation, and sublimation. Managing stress is also very important for your mental/emotional well-being. Stress eating is unhealthy and bad for the body. Stress eating can take the form of under or over eating and has many negative outcomes such as health problems. Good ways to deal with stress is by being open minded, recognizing your talents or abilities, positive talk about oneself, setting Goals, and more
