  • How far did the ball travel?
  • The ball travels at a speed of 2m/s and flew for 3 seconds
  • Camila is at the dog park in Paris, playing fetch with her dog Roky! She throws the ball.. but guess what... it's OUR job to find out the movement that took place after Camila threw the ball!
  • What is the speed of the Amazing Roky?
  • In order to find out the movement, we have to understand how we would get there. By this, we would use FORMULAS!
  • How long does it take him to get back?
  • Good boy!!
  • Camila throws the ball across the field for Rocky to chase. Based on what we know, distance is speed*time. 3x2 is 6 and the units being m (since the seconds cancel out) mean that the distance the ball traveled is 6 meters! 
  • Rocky is fast, but how fast? Speed is distance / time. Camila threw the ball 6m away, meaning that it would be divided by 5 secs. 6/5 is 1.2 and the units are m/s, meaning that Rocky ran at a speed of 1.2 m/s!
  • Rokey traveled 6 meters in 5 seconds. What a fast dog!
  • Of course, Rocky has to get back. To calculate how long it took him to make it back, we use Distance/Speed. Rocky ran 6m which will be divided by 1.2m/s. 6/1.2 is 5 and the units will be seconds since the m's cancel out, meaning that it took Rocky 5 seconds to get back to Camila!
  • Based on prior knowledge, Rocky travels 6m in a speed of 1.2m/s
  • Today has been a fun day with Camila and Rocky and learning how fast he can be. They drive home just in time to watch the sunset and enjoy the breeze. We should definitely do this again!
