Eyes:Hans Hubermann's kind, soft eyes comfort Liesel when she first comes to 33 Himmel street. His eyes are used as symbols for peace and love in the book while there is so many bad things happening.
Mouth:Hans uses his mouth to comfort Liesel when she is having nightmares. He also uses his mouth to teach Liesel to read, basically setting up her love for books and the path of the story, making her become the book thief.
Hands:Hans plays the accordion with his hands to calm Liesel down and plays just for fun. Hans also hands a piece of bread to a Jew which costs him later in the book.
Leg:Hans breaks his leg in an accident when he was sent out to work for the Nazi government and it sends him home just in time before everybody dies. His leg reunited him and his family
Picture Explanation:The picture shows Hans Hubermann at the door of the house waiting for Liesel to arrive for the first time at 33 Himmel Street. This is important because it sets up the setting of a lot of the book and introduces a very important figure in the book who contributes in so many ways to how the story happens.
