- Where the devil should this Romeo be?Came he not home tonight?
- Tybalt, the kinsman to old Capulet,Hath sent a letter to his father’s house.
- A challenge, on my life. Alas, poor Romeo! He is already dead, stabbed with a white wench’s black eye,
- Good morrow to you both. What counterfeit did I give you?
- Pardon, good Mercutio, my business was great, and in such a case as mine a man may strain courtesy.
- The slip, sir, the slip. Can you not conceive?
- Mercutio and Benvolio are wondering where Romeo is since he never came home the night before.
- Tis no less, I tell you, for the bawdy hand of the dial is now upon the prick of noon.
- Out upon you! What a man are you?
- Benvolio tells Mercutio about the challenge letter from Tybalt for Romeo. Mercutio shows doubts about Romeo since he's so deeply in love and lustful.
- I pray you, sir, what saucy merchant was this that was so full of his ropery?
- A gentleman, Nurse, that loves to hear himself talk, and will speak more in a minute than he will stand to in a month.
- Romeo enters with his friends. Mercutio and Romeo tease each other back and forth. Mercutio sees Romeo as his oldself again and not being miserable in love.
- But first let me tell ye, if ye should lead her into a fool’s paradise, as they say, it were a very gross kind of behavior, as they say.
- This afternoon, sir? Well, she shall be there.
- Tell her to devise a plan to get out of her house and come to confession at the abbey this afternoon.
- The Nurse and her man Peter enter. Mercutio says offensive comments and sexual jokes about the nurse. The Nurse got very angry.
- The Nurse disappointed about Romeo for having relationship with Mercutio. Benvolio and Mercutio leave.
- The Nurse warns Romeo not to mistreat Juliet and always make her happy. After that, they plan for the couple's wedding.
