  • "Believe me on my honor, and respect that honor so that you will believe me."
  • "If amond this assembly there is any dear friend of Caesars, I say to him that my love for Caesar is no less than his own
  • Brutus Speech- Pathos
  • "Who here is so barbaric he doesnt want to be a Roman?"
  • "Would you perfer that Caesar was alive and you all die as slaves, or that Caesar were dead and you live as free men?"
  • Brutus Speech-Logos
  • "If that friend then demands why i rose up against Caesar, this is my answer: it is not that i loved Caesar less, but that i loved Rome more."
  • Brutus asks the audience to believe in his honor, that his love for Caesar is no less than a dear friend of Caesar. Brutus states he is honorable, a friend of Caesars. Brutus's known status shows his credibility and authority.
  • Anthonys Speech-Ethos
  • "I come to speak at Caesars funeral. Caesar was my friend, faithful and just to me."
  • Brutus asks the roman citizens if they would give up their freedom under Caesar's rule and die as slaves, that someone would have to be barbaric to not want to be roman. Knowing the pride the roman civilians take in being free and being roman, Brutus utilized the emotional appeal to the romans to emotionally persuade them.
  • Anthonys Speech- Pathos
  • "Bear with me; my heart is in the coffin with Caesar, and i must pause until it returns to me."
  • Brutus uses logical reasoning to explain why he acted as he did to Caesar. He said Caesars ambitions led him to his death, he was to powerful for his own good. His love for Rome was greater than his love for Caesar. Any person pertaining logical reasoning could see the truth in his words and the reasonable cause for Caesars death.
  • Anthonys Speech- Logos
  • "You all saw that during the feast of Lupercal i presented him with a kingly crown three times, which he refused three times. Was that ambition?"
  • Anthony talks highly of Caesar and says he is a friend of his. The crowd who already demands explanation and justice for Caesars death feels understood by Anthony's words. It shows the effectiveness of Anthony's authority in the country as well as his way of leading people with his words.
  • "He brought many captives home to Rome whose ransoms enriched us all."
  • Anthony delivers many heart felt lines throughout the speech that affect the roman citizens in a emotional way. The roman citizens have trust in Anthony at this point and believe everything he is saying. just as brutus did Anthony starts to persuade the audience in his favor.
  • "I think what he's saying is very reasonable."
  • Anthony repeats the word ambition in his speech multiple times to show that despite Brutus claims, Caesar wasn't ambitious. The Roman citizens begin realizing how Caesar has been truly wronged. The quick change of sides and opinions of the villages show that with logic, anthony persuaded them to believe in his side.
  • "Did you pay attention to his words? Caesar wouldnt take the crown. So its clear he wasnt ambitious
