- Life in Dalian, China was incredible. I met my best friend, Aisling, there, and got to experience a life that was exciting, challenging and always keeping me on my toes.

- Living as a foreigner in China was awesome. I always felt welcomed by locals, and although I very much felt different, that differences was embraced by the Chinese people around me. There was so much excitement around me, that I had planned to spend the next 3-5 years living in a country full of so much adventure, great food and beautiful people.

- Not to mention, I was also very proud of myself. I was paying entirely for my whole life, studying for my Masters degree and travelling abroad for myself. It was the version of me that I liked to see when I looked in the mirror.

- Chapter 1: Life in China
- During off school hours, I spent nearly every moment with my best friend. Her and I were like sisters, and we'd usually go to our favourite foreign cafe, Suzans, for coffee and food. So before Spring Festival, we met up at Suzans to say our farewells before leaving China to go visit our families back home.
- Can't wait to go on vacation! Make sure to stay in touch and send me photos of your travels! I'll miss you!

- If only I knew this was the last time I'd be seeing both my friends and China...
- Life didn't pay for itself obviously. So I made money as a high school science teacher on an all boys' campus. It was a tough gig, but luckily my best friend taught next door and I could visit her throughout the day for a break.
