- In the Book Born a Crime by: Trevor Noah, Trevor felt left out of the family that his mom and Abel created so he left to pursue his comedy career and was doing well on his own and had not seen his family for a few years. One quote from the book is "I was gone. I was off becoming a comedian, touring the country, playing shows in England, hosting radio shoes, hosting television shows." (Noah 265). This affected Noah because he was living with a stepdad that did not accept him fully because they were not related by blood.

- After being in the city and touring the would for quite some time he gets a phone call from this mother phone. When he picks up its his little brother and he his very calm but he says some very startling. "'Hey, trevor, it's andrew' 'Hey.' 'How are you?' 'Good. What's up?' 'Are you busy' 'Im sort of sleeping. Why?' 'Moms been shot.'"(Noah 266). This was years of abuse in the making and Trevors mom would go to the cops but the cops wanted nothing to do with black family's.

- When Trevor finally got to the hospital his mom was being rushed to the emergency room and a nurse came up to him and said they where going to have to transfer his mom to another hospital because ethis one would be to expensive for him. Trevor ignored the woman and handed the nurse his card and said to put it all on the card . then he turned back to his brother and told him to explain everything. "'And dad was waiting for us at the house, and he got out of his car and started shooting.'"
