It's just paper work. Nothing real about it.
"I need you to come with me to my sisters wedding in Indonesia and convincingly play the part of my very loving wife" (Lauren 30).
Anna and West agreed to a fake marriage in college to solve their financial problems. West invites Anna to his brother’s wedding because his wealthy family still believes they’re married. He needs her to pretend their marriage is real so his secret doesn’t come out.

She's supposed to be pretending...but it feels real.
"I'm the only one here offering you unconditional support and love" (Lauren 241).
At the wedding, West and Anna act like a real couple to keep up their lie, but being together again reminds them of how much they care for each other. Between the fake smiles and romantic moments, feelings spark.

"I want to be here on your team. Even if you told me the offer was all fake...I'd still stay and help you pull this off. I'm your ride-or-die, West Weston" (Lauren 317).
Maybe this Paradise isn't a problem after all.
West and Anna finally admit their true feelings. What started as a fake marriage and a pretend act turns into real love. They realize they don’t want to keep pretending anymore; they want to be together for real and build a life based on honesty and love.
