- The next morning, Meg wakes up to see that Lori has seemingly committed suicide on the staircase. Next to her body is a red slash of paint on the nearby wall. Meg wakes up the group to decide what to do with her body.
- While the rest of the group is discussing the mysteries surrounding Lori's suicide. T.J and Meg go outside to find a way to receive help. While Meg is getting her rain gear, she randomly finds a photo of a girl named Claire in her room. And later on, she eventually finds the journal of the girl named Claire.
- While trying to find a way to escape the island, and find help. Meg and T.J get to know each other, and what their background is. They cannot find a way to receive help, and so they turn back to the house. But Meg and T.J find out that another person has died in an accident, and yet another red slash has been painted.
- During this part of the book, a lot of the events are repeated in this order of events. First, a person is killed in a mysterious, but brutal way. Then, the remaining people become distrustful of one another, which causes the group to further splinter.
- Bro check out this girl's journal. I think it mentions all of us for some reason.
- T.J and Meg try to stick together for as much time as possible so that they can clear each other as the murderers. Eventually, Meg reveals the photo and journal of Claire Hicks. T.J then reveals how basically everybody at the island party bullied Claire. But as they're talking, another death is announced, and they can see 7 slashes.
- In a state of panic or paranoia, Meg believes that T.J was the one behind all the deaths, and shoots him. But moments later, another gunshot rings out and Minnie drops to the floor, dead.
