- “I carry my bike down the stairs by its handlebars and seat.”(Silvera 100)
- I think Rufus’s bike symbolizes escape and freedom. I chose this quote because it shows how important the bike is to Rufus, because he takes it every where, even if he doesn’t need it. Rufus used his bike many times through out the book, and it is very meaningful to him. He used it to get away from the cops after he got the alert. He also used it in the past for many memories.

- “Death cast is calling me with the warning of a lifetime - I’m going to die today.”(Silvera 3)
- I think that Death Cast symbolizes unavoidable death and misfortune. People at Death Cast call people to let them know that their time is up. It is a grueling job to have to deal with angry and upset people. A lot of people avoid the calls,hoping that they are safe, but it is unavoidable. Mateo and Rufus got a call from Death Cast on the same day. In a way, it is good so people can say goodbye, but is puts a lot of stress on whoever gets the call.

- “The Last Friend app was created so people can feel worthy and loved before they die.”(Silvera 42)
- I think that the Last Friend app symbolizes hope and a last resort. The Last Friend app is where people go to find friends that are also dying, that way they don't die alone. This is where Rufus and Mateo meet for the first time. Some people go to the Last Friend app to find sympathy, or to give away prized possessions. The Last Friend app gives hope to people that they will have someone to be with and many use it as a last resort.
