Immigration played a major role in the urbanization growth in the United States. Many immigrants migrated to America to find better living conditions and economic opportunities for their families. Over a million immigrants found new homes in big cities such as New York, Chicago, and Detroit. Big cities and other areas began to become over populated which led to homelessness because there was not enough housing to shelter all the immigrants. Due to the massive number of immigrants in America, there was not enough jobs to employee them or American citizens which led to high poverty rates. To solve the issues of limited housing, the government passed different housing policies that built developments called tenements which housed numerous immigrants. To deal with the issue of immigration, the Unites States passed a low called the Immigration Act of 1924 which put limitation and restrictions on immigration into America. No one in particular solved the issues of immigration but it was addressed by different individuals, organizations, and governments. Immigration was also addressed by individuals advocating, political reform, and governments measures.
