Ernest Hemingway wrote the novel The Old Man and the Sea. The protagonists of this story are an elderly man named Santiago and a young boy named Manolin. They were best friends as they were always fishing together.

Santiago had gone fishing for 84 days without getting any fish. The first 40 days of fishing, Manolin's parents forbid him to go fishing with the old man because they thought Santiago finally salao. Manolin was frustrated to see the old man come home with no fish.
On the 85th day of his unlucky streak, before sunrise, Santiago has prepared his boat to go fishing as usual. Manolin give him some food and tell him good luck. The old man knew he was going far out that time.

In the middle of the sea, Santiago was shocked as he caught a huge marlin fish. He expresses a compassionate appreciation for his adversary, often referring to the fish as a brother. Due to the fish's great dignity, no one shall deserve to eat Marlin. Santiago straps the fish to his side of the skiff and go back to the shore.
Santiago is so sad about what happened to Marlin. Nothing left, only the skeleton of Marlin. The other fisherman was shocked as they saw Marlin’s big skeleton near Santiago’s skiff.
Manolin come to see Santiago and see him deeply sleeping. He prepared some coffee for him as he awake and promise to go fishing together again with the old man. Then, Santiago falls asleep again and dream about a lion.
