Eleanor charges forward blindly, holding the iron rod out like a lance, while Pip swings at the rattlebird and misses each time.

The Graveyard Dog explodes into sparks and ashes. A hot and prickly feeling passes over Eleanor.
Ouch! That hurt, you whiskerless wretches!
Finally, Pip is able to hit the rattlebird! The Cat of Ashes rears up on her hind legs, ready to pounce.

The Cat of Ashes flings toward Eleanor and bites her hand! Meanwhile, the bird's body turns to ashes in the shape of a bird and hovers overhead.
The Cat of Ashes puffs up, her teeth spitting sparks.
Pip flings salt at the cat. The cat howls and twists.
The Cat of Ashes yells, as she turns to smoke and ash.
