In this population, there are a variation of Pegasus's with smaller wings than the other Pegasus's due to a gene mutation that has been passed down for ages
the Pegasus's wing size depended on the genes that they inherited from their parents.
The dominant trait is little wings (W). If a male with small wings (WW) and female with big wings (ww) have a child, then it will have small wings but will be a carrier for the big wing trait.
The Pegasus's with the smaller wings get left behind a lot more because they can't fly for long periods of time like the ones with big wings. When their home started having fires everywhere the population for short winged Pegasus's dropped rapidly.
The Pegasus's environment was very tropical with thousands of trees for them to eat off of, but one day it began to have fires everywhere and this put the Pegasus's in a place where they had to leave to find a new home so they could survive.
These fires put selective pressure on the Pegasus's because they had no choice but to up and leave the only home that they've known.
