3 years ago, in 2019, I was spending new years with my parents and their friends in the French Alpes

It was a cabin that belonged to my mom's friend she had known since high school, and there were nine people in total spending the weekend there:my parents, my mother's friend and her husband, four other friends, and I.

We also played board games and got to kow each other, so by the end of the weekend I knew everyone pretty well
We spent the weekend hiking and visiting the local areas
About a half year later, I was back at m house in my room when I heard a shout come from downstairs.
I arrived at the living room and found my mom shocked in and she looked like she was holding back tears.
It turned out one of the persons I had spent the new years with had been found hanging from the garage ceiling
Until you really know someone who dies, you never really comprehend what it means for someone to die. You know that scientifically, it means the molecules that make them up are no longer bonded by life, you see people die on TV and in movies but they are usually not real. Death is something that is there in the back of your head, and when it comes, it is like a punch in the gut. You realize that you are never going to see the person again, you realize they no longer exist, and it takes a while to comprehend.
