- Hello Owen! I'm so happy you're here. I need your help to find Duke.
- Where should we look first?
- Owen ran to Nana's door, excited to see her once more.She hugged him tight, then with a sigh,Said, "Owen, Duke is gone, oh my!He’s slipped away, no one knows where, but we’ll find him, don’t you fear!"

- Is he under the bed?
- I don't see him under there.
- Owen and Nana quietly steppedinto the bedroom where Duke often slept.A paw print here, and a chewed up shoe,But Duke was missing—who knew where he went off to?

- Look Nana! The sandwiches are gone!
- You're right Owen! We must have just missed him.
- Next, the close-knit pairchecked the kitchen and that is wherethey saw the evidence of Duke's recent crime—Sandwiches missing where Duke must have climbed.

- We will have to search everywhere for him.
- DUKE!!! Where are you?!!!
- Nana and Owen hopped in the car,Ready to search near and far.With the engine roaring, they drove away,Determined to find Duke that day.

- Have you seen our dog, Duke?
- Owen and Nana went to the spot,Where they knew Duke liked to eat at a lot.They talked to the waiter and looked for clues,And what he told them, seemed like good news. Duke had been there just before, Owen and Grandma had stepped through the door.

- When Duke smells all this food, I'm sure he will come home.
- There was a dog in here earlier. He destroyed half the store
- While they were out, Nana bought food,She knew would put Duke in a good mood. But to their surprise, Duke had just been there, The clerk told them everything, and gave quite the glare.

- Look, there he is!
- He has our fire hose!
- After just missing him at the store,Nana and Owen went next door.The firehouse was the building close by,They arrived just in time to hear the loud cry,"He has our fire hose" the fireman proclaimed!But Duke ran off, seemingly unashamed.

- We needed this break after looking so hard.
- Thanks for the ice cream.
- After chasing Duke and running out of steam,the two stopped, and Nana bought some ice cream.

- For a second, I almost thought I saw him in there.
- As a last ditch effort and on a whim,Owen and Nana watched the fish swim.Sometimes Duke came here alone,and Nana wanted to turn over every stone.And just for an instant, and not a second more,Owen thought he saw Duke but he wasn't sure.

- Duke, you silly dog!
- Feeling defeated, and with their shoulders slouched,The two arrived home only to find Duke on couch.It seems as though Duke knows his way home,No matter how far he sometimes may roam.

- We did have a big dog come in and eat a whole pizza.
- Maybe we should head on home.
