Echo a nymph,was a hand maiden to the goddess Hera.She was great at telling stories.Whenever her sisters or Zeus where gone she would distract Hera for them.
And then she came out from her hiding spot.

But Hera found out and Echo was severly punished.When ever someone spoke she would copy them.

Narcissus a young hunter was separated by his companions in a hunt .Narcissus's family had been warned by the blind seer Teiresias that"So long that he not knows himself he shall live and be happy"

Echo tried and tried but Narcissus followed her every where she went.Then he became angry of her mocking him.Narcissus was tired of arguing and Echo ran to her hiding place. Narcissus followed.

Narcissus,angry, sat by the pond while Echo hid behind a rock.Narcissus saw his reflection going out to touch it,he saw it disapper. He tried and tried to get it but the love in his chest could not take it ,he drowned.Narcissus ego was his downfall he couldn't take being without his love and died.Today we would relate this to Narcissus disorder and to not have a huge ego.
