  • Fat is one of the six vital nutrients that we need to keep our body healthy. The six nutrients are they are fat, water, minerals, carbohydrates, protein, and vitamins.
  • What do those mean?
  • Fat is our most concentrated source of energy, providing double the amount of calories per gram. Fat is how our bodies store extra calories for later use. It has some good things though. Our cell membranes are made of fat and our brains are about 60% fat.
  • Ok. What are those other ones?
  • Water is, well you know what water is. Water makes up about half of our bodies. Water helps to carry other nutrients around the body and helps regulate our temperature. You should be having water instead of soda.
  • Oh. Do you want it?
  • Heh heh no. Minerals are elements that are important to our body. Some minerals are used for metabolic processes and others are used as part of body structures, like calcium in our bones and teeth.
  • Where do you find it?
  • Almost all foods have one mineral or another. Nuts and seeds are the most rich in calcium and iron though.
  • So these sesame seeds have iron in them?
