- The Louisiana purchase was a deal between the US and France where the US bought the Louisiana Territory for 15 Million dollars in 1803.
- Filibusters
- Mexicans were unhappy with Spain due to the Spaniards treating the Mexicans unfairly. Also, the Mexicans felt as if they were being heavily taxed by Spain.
- Battle of Medina

- Father Miguel Hidalgo was a Mexican priest from New Spain who wanted independence from the Spaniards. On September 16, 1810, Father Hidalgo issued the Cry of Dolores which led to him being shot by the Spainiards.
- Constitution of 1824
- The Constitution states that Mexican citizens have freedom and independence. We will elect a president to lead us.

- The Battle of Medina took place near the Medina River where the Spanish and the rebel army fought. The rebels were overwhelmed by the Spanish and many of the rebel soldiers died. Soon the Spanish invade Texas, killing anyone they could find.
- The 1824 Constitution was a declaration that gave the people of Mexico freedom and independence.
