Many began to dislike Charles I because of his strong defense of the English Church and Catholicism.. He also ignored the Petition of Rights once realizing how it limited his power.

After Cromwell's death in 1658, the monarchy got restored in 1660. The Parliament still had power, but Charles II still tried to push his own ideas. James II also became King afterward and pushed Catholicism.
Stop forcing religion on us!!
English nobles invited the Dutch leader, William of Orange to invade England, even though his wife was the daughter of James II. James II soon fled to France and William and Mary became the new monarch, accepting a bill of rights as well.
This bill said that everyone is subjected to the same laws, even someone apart of the monarch. This limits the monarch's power.
