- Skluzavka: 1
- Ulrich: “Here’s how it will be, Georg: from the ridge to the river, the line will cut straight, and half will be yours, half mine. No more arguments, no more trespassing, no more bloodshed—just two men who finally saw sense and decided peace was worth more than pride. Agreed?”
- Georg: “Agreed. Let’s mark it today, Ulrich, so when they ask who ended the feud, they’ll know it was us—and that it ends for good.”
- Skluzavka: 2
- Ulrich: (nodding toward the broken branches above) “The tree. It still holds the storm’s strength. If we can break enough wood free…”
- The men begin working frantically, breaking off loose branches and dragging them into a makeshift barrier as the wolves’ snarls draw closer. The sound of paws on the snow sends chills down their spines, but they keep moving.)
- Georg: (understanding, nodding) “A barrier. We pile the branches in front of us and hope the wolves hesitate.”
- Ulrich: (grinning faintly) “Perhaps that’s what the forest wanted all along.”
- Skluzavka: 3
- Georg: (whispering) “It’s working. They’re hesitating.”
- Ulrich: (eyes widening) “Our men!”
- (calling out) “Ulrich! Georg! Are you here?”
- (The men are led away, their rescuers unaware of the momentous truce that has been forged beneath the broken branches of the forest. The wolves watch from the shadows, their hunt abandoned for the night.)
- Skluzavka: 0
- Ulrich: “If we die, we die fighting. Together.”
- Georg: (confused) “What are you talking about?”
- The howls grow louder, and the men instinctively glance toward the direction of the sound.)
- The men begin working frantically, breaking off loose branches and dragging them into a makeshift barrier as the wolves’ snarls draw closer. The sound of paws on the snow sends chills down their spines, but they keep moving.)
- (The men rush to them, cutting away the branches and freeing Ulrich and Georg from the tree’s grip. The two rivals-turned-allies exchange a final look as they are helped to their feet.)
- Georg: (startled) “What was that?”
- Georg: (nodding) “Agreed. Let’s see what we can make of it.”
