- Need a haircut, Greaser?
- Hey Grease, were gonna do you a favor and cut all that long greasy hair off
- Didn't Soda used to ride in rodeos, Saddle Bronc?
- Yeah. Dad made him quit after he tore a ligament, we still hang around rodeos though.
- I went to sleep in the lot.
- Where the heck have you been? Do you know what time it is?
- In the first chapter, Ponyboy is walking home from the movie theatre after watching a Paul Newman film, shortly after, a group of Socs jump him.
- Yeah, I had to, they might've killed you, and they had a blade, they were gonna beat me up
- You really killed him, huh, Johnny?
- In chapter 2 of the outsiders, Ponyboy and Johnny meet up with Dally, and they go to the Nightly-Double Drive-in-Theatre.
- We're gonna cut our hair, and your gonna bleach yours. They'll have our descriptions in the paper, we can't fit em.
- Oh, no! No Johnny not my hair!
- In chapter 3 of the outsiders, Ponyboy fell asleep in the lot. He came back very late, he looked through a window and saw Sodapop sleeping on the couch, but Darry was still awake sitting on the armchair under the lamp and was reading a newspaper.
- Both of you stay right here!
- In chapter 4, Johnny Ponyboy go to a park at around 2:30 in the morning, the horn of a mustang alerts them. Shortly after, 5 Socs get out of the car, Ponyboy and Johnny recognize Bob and Randy. They surround them, They try to drown Ponyboy, and Johnny ends up killing Bob
- In chapter 5 of the outsiders, Ponyboy and Johnny cut their hair so that they are disguised from the cops. Johnny comes back from town after getting a bunch of supplies to last a week and says that they should cut their hair to disguise themselves.
- In chapter 6, Dally, Ponyboy and Johnny arrived at Jay mountain and Dally slammed on the brakes and said, "The church is on fire." He tells Johnny and Ponyboy to stay in the car but they both ignore him and run into the burning church to save the little kids.
